For this spring season, Leiniva Faitau, Sean Plaisime, and Ryleigh Gage were all selected to be interviewed on the Sonic Locker Room Show. This is an interview of athletes who have performed well during the season.
These three not only excel as athletes but also as students. They are well known role models and show leadership throughout the school.
Faitau was chosen due to her ability to be an example to seventh graders and take leadership. Faitau also has experience in the Sonic Locker room as she was also chosen for the fall season as a volleyball player. She works hard at every meet as she believes there is always room to improve. Her track season has gone well so far, and she wishes that it will end on a good note.
“My proudest moment was being able to take first in the 4×200 relay with Bailor Perry, Kenna Simons, and Ragan Filmore,” Faitau said. “We were last at one point and then I had anchored the relay and we ended up taking first. It was a super fun race and I hope there will be more like it!”
Plaisime was chosen due to his improvement from his season last year. He has participated in 100 M dash, hurdles, high jump and relays this season.
“It felt truly awesome being selected for the interview,” Plaisime said. “It’s a very special thing, being chosen out of your peers. My proudest accomplishment is our 4X100 team placing first in our heat during the Excelsior Springs Meet.”
Track coach Chris Earley didn’t want Ryleigh Gage’s work to go unnoticed. She participated in the 800 M run and shot put.
“I picked Ryleigh because she comes to practice every day and works hard. She has a pleasant attitude and is very coachable, “ Earley said.
