The Scholar Bowl A team has a record of 3-4 and B team has a record of 4-3 so far this season.

Scholar Bowl is a trivia team that competes against other schools. Practices have focused on the whole team expanding their knowledge of the questions.

Eighth grade science teacher Kristina Zorn is the sponsor of the team. She has been the sponsor for five years.

“The entire team has been putting in the work to get better,” Zorn said. “Two of the most improved players have been Layila Nichols, Alexanderia Adkins; both have put in extra work to get better.”

Eighth grader Alexanderia Adkins joined because she needed an extracurricular activity to qualify for the National Junior Honor Society.

“I think the team as a whole has done pretty well this season…”Adkins said. “I really love my team members, my coach Mrs. Zorn, and the sport overall is very fun.”

Seventh grader Asher Windes plans on rejoining the scholar bowl team next year because it has been fun even though they have lost some of their competitions.

“The season so far has not been the best because we have faced some pretty good teams, but we have had some extraordinary wins as well,” Windes said. “One thing that I like about the Scholar Bowl team is Mrs. Zorn doesn’t get too frustrated with us when we lose a game.”

Seventh grader Laiyla Nichols joined the team to try something new. She has enjoyed the experience.

“We have done really well; everyone has their own strengths that add to the team,” Nichols said. “Most of us are friends, so we joke around all the time.”

The next Scholar Bowl competition is with Smithville on Feb. 15.
