Football team gears up against Bingham

The football team is getting ready for their first home game against Bingham Middle School on Sept. 13.  

The team consists of 63 players and five managers. The defense has been working hard for three weeks at practice to get ready for the first game. Coach Chris Ray is the defensive coordinator for the team. 

“I started coaching wrestling and track when I came over 11 years ago,” Ray said. “I got into football about five years ago..”

Braxton Nunez is a wide receiver and safety on the A team.  He will be starting against Bingham.

“Good, it feels good, to be noticed enough to be starting,” Nunez said.

Amari Hutton plays on the A team for offense as a running back and defense as a linebacker

“I definitely enjoy offense more because I like making kids fail when they try to tackle me,” Hutton said.

The team has some players that are in their first year playing. MaKyan Cooper is one of them. He’s starting on the B team as a wide receiver.

“My favorite position is wide receiver because I love to score touchdowns,” Cooper said. 

The team is ready for kickoff on Tuesday, Sept. 13. Be ready for the season opening game.
