Coach Brandon Wackerman is excited for the upcoming season. He is excited to see students compete and achieve.

“Seeing our student-athletes gradually get tougher, more confident, and more disciplined in their daily lives-on and off the mat,” Wackerman said.

Auri Patterson, a returning wrestler from last year, is excited for this season.  She loves the feeling she gets when she’s out on the mat.

“I like how everything goes away when I’m wrestling, like the sounds and problems,” Patterson said.

Kooper LeHotta, a new seventh grade wrestler this season, has never wrestled before but is excited to try something new. LeHotta is on the Trailblazer team.

“I look forward to meeting new people and coaches,”  LeHotta said.

For those that not interested in wrestling, basketball is an option. Students will have to try out to make the basketball team.

Sterling Miles, a basketball player for FOYL (Fort Osage Youth League) can’t wait for the season to start.

“I love playing basketball for the league but when I play for the school this year I think I’ll have fun being able to travel for games.” Miles said

Brock Mallett, another returning FOYL athlete, is excited about the ability to play with the seventh graders this year.

“I think this year will be better with the seventh graders because I get to play with some of my friends,” Mallett said.

Nov. 17 is the first wrestling meet against Excelsior Springs. Basketball is on Nov. 20 against Paul Kinder. Boys will be at Paul Kinder and girls will be playing at home.
