The Fort Osage School District has hired a new certified school protection officer named Jessy Gleason to work at OTMS. He and other school protection officers work for Strategos that have officers assigned to different building throughout the district.
Gleason enjoys his job and also enjoys working with kid. He has been working as an officer for six years now.
“I love working here to interact and build connections with kids. I also like protecting the school grounds,” Gleason said.
Principal Melanie Bosch is Osage Trails principal and thinks Gleason will overall make the school a better place.
“Having him here will be a benefit, an added layer of protection and support. He can always help both staff and students,” Bosch said.
Aaliyah Gordon is an eighth grader on the Voyagers team. She thinks Gleason will help the school.
“Yes. He makes me feel safer and protected,” Gordon said.
Marielle Faagalu is a seventh grader on the Explorers team. Faagalu feels that Gleason will have an impact on students’ behaviors.
“I know he will have an impact on students’ behaviors because he would… make them think again,” Faagalu said.
Before becoming a security officer, Gleason was once a tree trimmer.
